Forfeiture

People slave every fucking day working their asses off 'cause there's mouths to feed and rents to pay and that's how the government wants things to stay 'cause they prosper from our ignorance and as long as the masses lack the ability to understand the complexity of government politics bureaucracy can be used to alienate us from what controls our lives they have us well in hand but we can take command 'cause they only have power as long as we let them this charade called democracy is profiting from our loss this charade called democracy no represent us.

Thoughts, words, action

Their lies have failed the world is rising against all forms of oppression I hear a message of defiance disobedience and solidarity people are getting off their knees speaking up for what they believe as individuals they join together to defend our humanity from thoughts to words from words to action spread the message inspire me in these times of despair rekindle my hope for the future of humanity the whole history of progress of human liberty shows that all concessions made have been born of earnest struggle the conclusion: revolution for a new and better evolution spread the message strike the match light the flame in the hearths of the young.

4 a.m.

I woke up at 4 AM couldn't go back to sleep they were fighting outside my window I heard a bottle smashed to the street there was blood on the sidewalk people were walking by pretending not to see until somebody stopped and called the police its the same old story its not the first time it won't be the last the cops pulled up and an officer asked what's going on? she answered in a trembling voice he didn't do anything she said its all my fault it must have been something I said something I did he says he's sorry she says it is OK its all my fault she just keeps on blaming herself blaming herself afraid of losing the little she has she would rather stay in this situation keep on living in this abusive relation "cause they thought her its best for the children to grow up with both mom and dad

Pc = potential criminal

Tell me what exactly did you expect me to understand? was that accepting me for who I am? cracking racist jokes expecting me not to be offended 'cause you consider yourself my friend so in my insecurity... I pretended to be amused by your bigotry came here when I was 2 years old grew up in a small town people whispering behind my back eyes looking me up and down I am tired of... always being viewed as a potential criminal although I am constantly reminded of the difference between me and you it doesn't hurt as much as it used to 'cause I have learned to respect myself I have learned to trust again and not feel ashamed of where I am from or who I am all my life I have been reminded that I don't belong here.

Bittersweet

All I ever wanted was to be a drummer in a band never claimed to be a poet singer or god I'm just a man I came here 'cause I didn't have a better place to go so pardon me if I'm out of key... whatever I might have said sang written or done! admit ! might be wrong make up your own mind don't take me seriously that's the only advice you should take from me... a happy pessimist singing a bittersweet serenade a sell-out some would say but at least I'm getting paid while we all march down our identity parade until we bend and watch our dreams slowly fade.

The sing-along summer-song

I wish it was summer and the sun would shine I'd have nothing to do but waste my time we could hang out riding our bikes I'd shave your head and you could help me with my spikes... but it isn't summer and its cold outside I'm overworked I aint got no time to do all the things we talked about... I'm getting my dreads done you're growing your hair long nothings what it used to be but I guess ill have the memories to carry them with me ... autumn winter spring... ill be holding on to yesterday the summer came and went away too fast

State of conformity

Comfortable lives in a capitalist democracy feeling safe and secure until they take it away consumed by greed pacified in apathy were disinformed to fit the norm that corporations and media created stimulated but constantly unsatisfied we are manipulated to value commodities higher than justice higher than equality higher than justice our standard of life is measured by what we own subdued kept happy and blind unconsciously confined kept on your knees no one bites the hand that feeds in a state of conformity where we value commodities higher than justice

More to life

I was easily convinced and taught what to believed took me years to realize that I like many others had been deceived so I set off to find my own true dreams redefine my life my values tired of being just another cog in their machinery don't be scared of living theres more to life than what they offer you don't sell your dreams reclaim control of your life take back what the stole from you.

Don't let silence be an option

They globolize hunger and they globalize war make people into commodities and they profit even more how muck longer can we act as passive bystanders? while 3/4 of the human race are living in extreme poverty while 3/4 of the human race are dying in extreme poverty in the stranglehold of capitalism some say we make mountains out of mole hills but if we don't compromise with human lives every compromise is a failure one step forward two steps back if they globalize resistance don't let silence be an option.

Aim to please?

Is that really you or just a mantel of identity you throw on as soon someone is around then get undressed tear it down this wall of expectations to fit into the congregation dress codes attitudes brought to you by some money hungry corporation its all make-believed a rebellion cut to fit and made acceptable is this really us or are we becoming just another product formed and confined by the expectations of others of who we are and what we should do but if we only aimed to please you we would still be playing the same old songs as yesterday and if you don't understand what I mean... well what can I say? 'hero of our time' was a funny song back then but to play it today would be king of lame...

Pecan pie

Oh what I would give for a good cup of coffee and some pecan pie at that café in Guelph I know a really good record store along the way but I'm keeping that to myself oh I've been home for too long I'm fed-up with myself and my daily routines thought I know ill miss you its going to be nice to get back on the road again were going to new places meeting new people familiar faces in the cities we have played before take a detour to the record store its going to be nice to get myself some pecan pie...

Up for sale

Sings us to sleep they've written a song for the masses to hum a rabble thought to dace to amid numbing rhythm moving their feet to the beat of a drum sing us to sleep and fuck us over create a new market increase the demand for some useless product who no one really needs sell us a lifestyle a new personality for every occasion sell us a lifestyle punk rocks for sale at your nearest gas station all our ideals are up for sale to the highest bidder commercialized misused abused and thrown you with the rest of the litter sing us to sleep and fuck us over

Diversity

Lay down some general outlines guiding principals but one thing we don't need is the ten commandments on how to be accepted into a movement that claims to be free from any order of hierarchy so why not let this be a place to relax and make life seem a little less mundane leave room for improvement! diversity! if we build up walls to surround ourselves and keep on preaching to the converted soon this movement will be deserted there will be no one left to read the statements I'm not saying this is only entertainment but how do you expect to reach out to people with a different point of view or expose unaware kids to something new if they don't feel welcome 'cause they don't agree with everything you say and do lets not make this an exclusive club for the self-proclaimed pre-eminent few.
